Recycling Information

The City has resumed its Curbside Recycling program.
 
Curbside recycling services are provided on alternating weeks. The week of Oct. 27, residents on the "B" week will begin receiving normal collection on their regular pickup day.
 
Beginning the week of Nov. 3, residents on the "A" week will receive normal collection on their regular pickup day.
 
To find out your collection day, visit www.houstonsolidwaste.org and click on "schedules via zip codes," or directly at www.houstontx.gov/solidwaste/schedule.html, or call the City's Customer Service Hotline by dialing 3-1-1.
 
The city accepts plastics #1-5 and #7 - excluding plastic bags and Styrofoam - aerosol cans, aluminum, catalogs, envelopes, flattened cardboard, home and office paper, magazines, mail, newspaper, telephone books, tin, and used motor oil.
 
 
Neighborhood Drop-off Recycling

 
For neighborhoods without curbside recycling, the following drop-off locations are available:
 

  • Westpark Consumer Recycling Center at 5900 Westpark, Monday – Saturday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Environmental Service Center (South) at 11500 South Post Oak (For household hazardous waste and scrap electronics recycling only) Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the second Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Kirkpatrick Depository at 5565 Kirkpatrick (Tires and oil also) Sunday – Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Central Street Depository at 2240 Central Street (Tires and oil also) Sunday – Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sunbeam Depository at 5100 Sunbeam (Tires and oil also) Sunday – Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • 3602 Center (newspaper, magazines, office paper; glass food & beverage bottles and jars; #1 -5, and 7 plastics; tin & aluminum food cans; cardboard boxes-broken down) Open 24/7
  • 1245 Judiway (Glass only)
  • Ellington Field (Clear Lake Area) at Highway 3 at Dixie Farm Road, Open 24/7
  • Windfern Depository at 6023 Windfern (accepts tires and oil) - Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Mayor Bill White has
established a relief fund to
help fill unmet human needs
for victims of Hurricane Ike in
Houston, and Harris and
Galveston Counties and other
affected areas. The Fund is
being administered by Albert
Myres, senior vice president
at Reliant Energy, with
fundraising and distribution
overseen by a special citizens
advisory board. The Fund is
now accepting donations and
is assessing humanitarian
needs. People are asked to
mail donations to the above
mailing address or donate
online at the above website.

The Gulf Coast Ike Relief
Fund is modeled after the
successful Katrina/Rita Fund,
which was also managed for
the region by Myres.
